An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder

I must admit I am a big Kevin Smith fan. Most of you might know Kevin through his movies; Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma and so on. What you might not know is that Kevin makes the lecture circuit and his Q&A’s are as good any any of his comedic masterpieces.

“Evening” is a 2-disc set that features Kevin’s appearances in Toronto and London. While I really enjoyed the Toronto performance on Disc 1, the second performance in London really was a poor ending. I don’t know if the humor is just different in England (see Benny Hill), but the thing that kept annoying me was that EVERYONE WAS SO DARN POLITE. Just not the usual American mob I’m used to during one of Kevin’s events.

Overall, I think that if an enterprising theater would just show these films on the big screen, they could rake in a ton of cash. Kevin makes the evening personal and funny as hell. I’d certainly pay $10.00 to see this on the big screen.

A great assignment for you all this weekend would be to rent/buy the two “Evening” sets. They are great fun. Just remember (with most everything that Kevin does) that it’s not exactly kid friendly. If you are not a fan...I know you will be before the second disc is done.
