The Screen Savers -- Long Live Tech TV

I was just stumbling around the net last night (not drunk...well, not really drunk) and ended up on YouTube.

In the last five months, I have been really avoiding YouTube because I just really didn't want to spend hours and hours away from my family, just to watch a little 4x4 box showing me random videos.

Since it's the Xmas season, I thought that I would just try it out. I started typing random stuff into the search engine and finally stumbled upon a user called zdtvfan who has posted quite a collection of "Screen Savers" episodes.

I was magically transported back to the occasional episodes I would catch when I had a chance. What shocked me was how many people existed on Tech TV that have become the pioneers of media on the web. I guess that I always knew it, but it just doesn't really hit home until you realize the huge amount of talent TSS put into one stuido for every episode.

TSS was eventually cancelled and morphed into the modern day "Attack of the Show" that currently resides on G4 (the merger of Tech TV and G4 was probably the biggest reason I quit watching).

But to catch the true spirit of Tech TV, you can still experience it on the web. Not only via YouTube "re-runs", but also the new social networks, podcasts, and vidcasts that these creative people have put together.

One wonders what Tech TV would look like if it had been allowed to keep going. Maybe a lot of these shows would exist on the channel in one form or another.

If you are really into tech, check out the following links. This is just a very short list of what you can find from our old friends at Tech TV.

Dr. Sue,
I do not know who is BJ. Could be someone somewhere but not me. But I do think Jamie was drunk when he wrote this review.
