I just got done watching a disturbing show on Discovery Health Channel. "When Surgical Tools Get Left Behind" is one of the stupidest shows on TV (only trumped by the weird square dancing show on public access in Rochester).
The show follows patients that have every type of surgical instrument jammed in them. The best part is something that I always see on Discover Channel shows, the dramatic reenactment. I just wonder how in the world they convince these people to be on TV. Is is their lawyer? Or are they just so pissed? Maybe they are really flattered that some dumb ass suit for the Discovery Channel called them and asked them to be on the show.
I know that things can happen in medicine, but do we really need to watch a marathon? My answer is "no". I really wonder about the type of person that gets excited over this show. Are we going to get to the point on TV when we see "When Bowels Are Emptied?"
There is so much good stuff out there on the net. I think that someone needs to have the guts to put out a vidcast channel. I know that Apple TV is a good first step, but someone out there could probably make a profit by acutally producing a cable channel that would show the most popular 'casts out there.
Hopefully in 5 years, we will be watching Diggnation on the small screen not this POS.
