Business Nation: Dateline in Faber's Clothing

I had high hopes for this business magazine. Recently CNBC has been firing on all cylinders with “Jim Cramer’s Mad Money” and “Fast Money”. Both of these shows are really fast paced and interesting. They make investing fun. This show is not one of them.

I think they had to throw David Faber a bone and give him a show. The problem is...they cloned “Dateline NBC” right down to the same format and set. I thought I had mistakenly turned the channel and was watching “Dateline”. I kept waiting for pickups to explode.

As a news magazine, it’s ok. I just don’t think that the typical nighttime crowd that was into “Cramer” and “Fast Money” are really going to be excited by “Business Nation”. The stories are slow and not really informative to the average CNBC watcher.

I really think Faber should stick to his specials. His Wal-Mart and Ebay reporting was first rate. Maybe he just needs to do one every quarter year. I would definitely sit through more of those.

As for sitting through “Business Nation” again...I think I’ll pass.
