DaVinci Code

I had heard so much stuff about this movie, that I really didn't want to see it until all the "conflict" died down.

While I was waiting, I actually sat down and read the book. I thought that the book was well thought out and very fascinating. I can see why it was so popular on the light-rail system in Salt Lake City.

The movie is another matter. While director Ron Howard tries to distill the book to fit the time constraints of a movie, it just doesn't quite get there. I actually think that if you didn't read the book, you would be more confused by the movie. A lot of stuff goes unexplained, or is told in 10 second "bursts" of explaination that really seem more fitting to Dr. Who than The DaVinci Code.

All religious matters aside, the biggest religious experience of the movie was how Tom Hanks managed to get his hair to do that thing that it did.

10% What the F*&# is up with that hair?

15% What is the message of this movie?

All in all, not a bad movie. Just make sure to read the book and then as you turn the last page, hit "play" on the DVD player. Hopefully the prequel "Angels and Demons" will be more interesting.
