I just signed up for the Amazon/TiVo Unbox movie service. It's free to all TiVo users. I was relieved when I found out that you don't need a PC for the service. TiVo wisely figured out how to download directly to your TiVo box. You only need to order the movie through Amazon on your PC or Mac. Each rental is between $1.99 and $3.99 and purchase is around $12.00 to $15.00.
I really wasn't into buying movies or TV shows through the service until I discovered that if you purchase a title, Amazon will store it on their servers. If you want to watch it again, all you have to do is redownload it. Very smart.
This was a very good partnership. It would be even bigger if there were more TiVo's installed in homes nationwide. I think for now it's going to fly under the radar.
Will Apple TV give it a run for its money? I'll let you know in a few weeks.
Until then, I have this great service to play around with. Now I just have to decided what I'm going to rent to try it out.

I'm sad. It doesn't work with DirecTV TiVo. Oh well.
